NextGen Women Initiative is an Afrocentric feminist transformative entity that seeks to increase young women’s participation in governance, leadership, democracy, and political processes that directly affect women.
As part of celebrating the women’s month, with a global theme ‘Break the Bias” NextGen Women Initiative has set out to contribute to Breaking biases around stereotypes about feminism by having a conversation on the same. This is due to the fact that sexual identity and exposure to stereotypes of feminism greatly affects women's self-identification as a feminist, endorsement of feminist attitudes, and intention to engage in collective action. Therefore, this activity seeks to break the stereotypes around feminism, and to bridge the gap between feminist theory and feminism in practice in the Afrocentric context. The activity is inspired by the International Conference on Women and Gender Studies, 2022 hosted by the Makerere University School Of Women and Gender Studies from February 25th to 27th, and the Uganda Feminist Forum. It is a partnership with the School Of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University.
