Marion Kirabo is a Law graduate from from Makerere University, Kampala. She is a devout feminist and active women’s rights activist. Marion is a 2021 alumnus of the Studies of the United States Institute For Women Leadership, University of Delaware, and is the grand winner of the Makerere University Centenary Logo Contest, 2021. Marion has served as the 85th Minister for Gender, Ethics and Integrity of the Makerere University Students Guild from where she initiated the Two for One Talent for Change Campaign against Sexual Harassment and other projects to promote safer Universities for female students. She was at the center of an anti-sexual harassment case against a prominent Hostel on the outskirts of Makerere University in 2019, and demanded for the protection of female students that live in hostels affiliated to Makerere University against Sexual Harassment. Marion was first runner Up in the 2021/2026 Local Government elections for Woman Parish Councilor. Marion has run many successful campaigns while at University, and subsequently mobilised and organised around winning a campaign for a Female Guild President in Makerere University in November 2021, where she was directly in-charge of resource mobilization. She has been invited to high level panel discussions including the 2022 International Conference on Women and Gender Studies, hosted by the Makerere University School of Women and Gender Studies, a 2020 UNWomen Conference on Elections in Uganda. She was the only student on a four-member panel discussion at the 2019 Commemoration of the World Democracy Day held On Thursday, 19th September, 2019 at The University Main Hall organized by the European Union Delegation to Uganda. Marion has been quoted by reputable local and international media outlets on women’s rights and human rights, and has been hosted on both local and international media outlets like the Economist, BBC, Aljazeera and UNWomen sites.
